Default steering gear box ratio question

I have decided to rebuild my box, with advice from others, make my own bushings, but I see Ekler's has a kit with a worm/nut with a ratio of 12:1 opposed to the stock ratio of 16:1....Has anyone changed thier ratio's to this or other ratio's? I felt my stock steering was pretty responsive plus their kit is a little high in $ so I will first examine the condition of my componets before replacing them but is it worth changing the ratio

flaming river makes an all new box with the 12:1 ratio. Do a search. that will probably produce a better result that doing it yourself.
