Default Pics of "While-I'm-at-it Disease"

This is what a simple front suspension rebuild can turn into when the dreaded "While-I'm-at-it" disease hits in full force.

All I was supposed to do was swap in the big block. Now the frame is blasted, suspenion is upgraded, swapping in a T56 6 speed, new interior and new gauges.

Hey guys, while I may be a Bubba, I ain't no stupid Bubba. The car is up on a 4-post lift and there are two jackstands, one under each side frame rail. It ain't goin' nowhere :D

Been there and still doing it. I thought replacing a few bushings and ball joints would take a few hours. Next thing I know I am scrubbing my brake calipers with a tooth brush, taking the A-arms off and sandblasting them, scrubbing the frame, etc.... and I dont see any end in sight

I hope to have pics soon

Haha - I'm all thumbs.
Hey - don't let it get you down. We've all been there at some point.
The lucky ones can look back and smile. The rest of us just grit our teeth
and hope it's easier than we think. Yeah - right !!! :cuss :cuss

I went to fix the E brake when I first bought my car. :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:
How naive I was !!! Let's see: parking brakes, trailing arm assemblies, strutrods, diff cover, rear spring, rear crossmember ----- ARGHHHH.
It hurts to remember !!

But, we do want to be proud of a job well done - so .... while I'm at it !!!

:smash:  :smash: :troll :smash: :U :smash: :boxing :smash: :cry :smash: :( :smash: :cuss

and finally: :D  :yesnod: :steering: :auto:  :hurray:

I recently replaced my radiator, but successfully resisted a real strong urge of the "while I'm at it" syndrome because I was short on time to enter a car show. The urges I had were to also fix a leaking front seal (but it's not that bad) and replace the cam. I found that pulling the radiator on a 77 is not too time consuming, so I can save it for some other day.

Shannon, I did the same thing last winter. I was just gonna do the front suspension. The poly kit only cost $150 or so. It was the "While I`m at it Disease" that cost me an engine rebuild and PS rebuild/install. All in all bout $3k. :U
But now I am as ready as can be. You will be happy when done. Just be glad you got a four post lift. That should make it easy. I just had the floor jack and some jackstands.

My whole car is a while-i'm-at-it. I was perfectly happy cruising around in it, ugly as it was a the time. Then while flushing the cooling system the water pump seized. So I pulled the water pump...then the engine...then...well, you know the rest.

These SBC sure can look ugly after all these years you take all the stuff off that hides the grime, sludge & rust. Just think of all the *Big Brown* truck shipments you have in the future! That's half the fun opening all those X-mas presents every couple of weeks/months. My 2nd to last shipment came in tonight with the necessities to finish it off... MSD 8.5MM ignition wires, V59C race plugs, K&N oil breather, wire spacers & new oil dipstick. K&N X-stream drop filter system is the last thing needed and it will drop in straight from K&N next week.

Yeah, yeah, ha ha, very funny. Everyone's a comedian :jester I'll be lucky to make it to the Corvette International charity show in April at this rate.

Judging from the number of posts, misery sure loves company! Hopefully I can get out of this for a total of about $1k if I don't get too carried away.
