Changed Tire Size Need Your Opinion
I just changed from 22570r15's to 24560r15"s to get some wider tires on my 1971 and I am having second thoughts on the height and width clearance. The 245's are about 1.5"s shorter and just clear the parking brake cable by a finger width. I know lots of you guys are running the 245's. What is your clearance from top of tire to bottom of fender well in the back. They just don't seem to fill the well from top to bottom. Also, should I be concerned about the minimal clearance on the parking brake cable/bracket?

Re: Changed Tire Size Need Your Opinion (John's Shark)
I am running 275 60 15s on the back and 255 60 15s on the front. I have about 1/16 th inch clearance on the back at the brake cable bracket and I get a slight rub on the front frame at full turn. The 255s are about the correct hight (27.1" dia.) and the 275s (28" dia.) are about 1 inch larger in diameter than stock.

I'm running 255-60's on the rear, they are close to the same height of the 225-70's. I have 245-60's on the front.
No rubbing at all.

Re: Changed Tire Size Need Your Opinion (LT1driver)
I measured the space from top of tire to bottom of wheel well on rear and it's about 4". That's a bit too much for my taste. I should have done my homework. I am going to see if the tire store will work out a swap.

Re: Changed Tire Size Need Your Opinion (79Fever)
Stopped by the tire store on the way into word today. They agreed to swap the 245's out for 225's since I have not driven on them. I am going back to the 22570's. I guess it comes down to a matter of personal preference. Thanks for your input.

79Fever, you're running 265-50R15 size tires, on OEM wheels, on an unmodified '79? WOW! I didn't think that big a tire would fit w/o rubbing @ 'lock' (fronts) or E-brake (rear). I can't tell from your sig pic; are those the 15" x 7" Rally Wheels, or the 15" x 8" N90 aluminum wheels? I'm running 255-60R15 BFGs all way around on the N90 wheel. The fronts rub 'somewhere' @ lock; the original Eagle GTs didn't, but they'd dry-rotted..
