Carpet dye for door panels
Does anyone know of a supplier for carpet dye to redo my carpet on my door panels?
The door panels are in excellent condition other than the carpet is faded and doesn't match the new ACC floor carpet. I contacted ACC to see if they sold dye to match their carpet sets, but no luck.

My carpet is a gold tone so not easily matched. What was the local parts house you used? Just curious, why can't you use house carpet dye?

You may be able to use the Vinyl paint as it says it can be used on carpet. The door carpet areas are not as thick as floor carpet, so you may get away with this more easily. I would not suggest this for the floor carpet.
I did tan to black, and I used a Plastikote Fabric paint and also used vinyl paint on top of this. Id say it looks great, but it is in black.
Yours being tan, I would say try the Vinyl paint that matches your interior color you are using from one of the corvette catalog houses. You'll probably have good results. Youll be surprised.

Re: Carpet dye for door panels (MN-Brent)
Brent,
Sorry the vinyl dye is not the correct color for the carpet. It matches the plastic and vinyl pieces great, but it is tan and not gold like the carpet. I checked the suppliers for carpet dye, but they only have the vinyl sprays.

I bought mine Firethorne Red at Central Auto parts. Car carpet is usually vinyl and house carpet is usually wool. I called a few carpet stores for dye. When I found one that had it he asked me what I was using it on I told him a car, he said I needed to get it from a parts store his dye would not work.

For next to nothing, ($20.00 or so) you can buy just the 2 door panel carpet pieces with vynal trim attached from numerous vendors.

Re: Carpet dye for door panels (LRPMAN)
LRPMAN.
I checked your website, but all i see is leather dyes. Will this work on carpet and do you have one to match my gold carpet color?
Silvr77,
The 81 door panels have the carpet stitched to the surrounding vinyl. It would require removing the vinyl from the backing and replacing the carpet. Probably more costly than buyinh repro door panels.

PS that deal for $20.00 SOUNDS REAL GOOD, I am going to look at it also.
