Default C3 Brake help

Wife purchased 1980 Red coupe. PO had FULL brake job done in 1999 1,200 miles ago. Drove home, LOADED with air in the system, pump up helps VERY little. Now the question. IF he had the rotors turned OFF the spindels what can I do? All new? or just bleed and hope.

What exactly was done? Was the master cylinder changed? (If a rebuilt MC was part of the job, it could easily be no good.) I would start at each wheel and check carefully for small leaks. Eliminate calipers, lines and M/C. You will just have to start at each wheel and work back. Congratulations on the purchase

do what Rob says and also look at the rear rotors to see if the rivets are still there. If so, he didn't turn them-unless he was able to use an on the car brake lathe. If they're gone then someone was in there and you'll have to get an indicator on the rotor to check for runout. Anything over .003" and you're going to have brake problems with air in the lines.

Check these out for good reference info:

Also VBP O-ring piston calipers help with air pumping to allow you a little more breathing room with regards to run-out and long periods of storage compared to the OEM seals.
