Default C3 Posting here... $100K PLUS VETTE

Hi, someone here posted a reply recently to a (subject unkown) fellow member and gave a site for a C3 that the price was $100K plus? I believe this car scored 99.9% in NCRS TOP FLIGHT? Could whomever posted this link or anyone who recognise's the above, repost it here? I am told it was blue in color, with Firestone Firehawk SS20 tires w/rally's.

thanks

Gregg, I believe it was a museum on the West Coast or the like that had one of 12 ZR-1s from '70-'72era??? It was the darker Targa or Bridgehampton Blues. I do not have the link.

Paul,
yes, it was not a 73. I think, (was told) 70-72, it was a medium blue not dark like mine. Oh well, maybe someone will remember, I was told it (the post ) was last week. I searched, but no luck. 100K plus for a C3, I gotta see it to believe it.

gotta love those tires on a 99.9 point resto. the drivers carpet looks kind of faded, too. and what's up with the "highboy" body style?

I believe this car scored 99.9% in NCRS TOP FLIGHT?
Gregg,

My understanding is that this was a NCRS Chapter event where the car received its Top Flight. There can be quite a difference in the judges' level of knowledge between a Chapter and a Regional or National event... Just something to keep in mind.

The car appears pretty in the pictures. The mileage is listed at a bit over 10,000... Tough to assess originality from photos... Several items in the engine compartment have been "freshened up" or replaced. As someone noted, the tires are current issue, but then again, wheels/tires are pretty easy to change. They might have the originals put away somewhere... That's what I do. I'd really like to get a closer look at it.

The going rate on ZR-1s these days is around $50,000 - $60,000... The asking price for this car seems out of line with the current market, but who knows... Maybe he'll get it.

100K plus for a C3, I gotta see it to believe it.
Well... 1968-1969 L-88s will bring that kind of money (a ZL-1 will bring way over that if one ever comes up for sale)... 1971 ZR-2s... That's about it as far as 1968-1982 Corvettes that will sell for six figures.

Regards,

Stan,

Thanks for your input. The tires are indeed correct replacements as I just went crazy trying to locate a correct set for my judging in March. The Firestone firehawk SS20 was the closest for the monies. Nice looking car but,
100K is tooooooooooooo rich for my blood.

That car was bid up to 85K at Barret-Jackson in January should have taken the money then, I really can't see 100K for this car but then again there was the $500 dipstick on E-Bay.

I have a 72 ZR-1 vert that I bought from a collector just over 4 years ago for $15 cdn. It was driveable and just needed some interior and paint work. I since rebuilt the engine, thanks to MM into a 383 stroker and will install my newly purchased C5 seats, a/c and other components in it. IMHO anyone would be totally nuts to spend even 1/2 the amount of $ that they were asking for it. To be totally honest I did not know what a ZR-1 or an LT-1 was when i bought mine. I only new that there were 454 engines and 350 engines. I also knew that I wanted a vert. and would not consider anything else so I guess I lucked out but I still have no desire to keep it totally original (although I still have many of the parts that weren't toast). I will be putting Cragar SS's on and an L-88 hood off a 68 this spring, have an LT-1 hood as well as an L-48 hood. I like the looks of all 3 hoods, so every few years the hood will change just for the 'ell of it.
