Default what do treat your tires with? this stuff's awesome!

like all of you...ive probably use a million cans of "Armor All" type tire treatments...
you know the kind...look great when 1st applied but are always greasy enough to attract every speck of dust and dirt for miles around...
only to completely go away in just a few days...
well...when in Carlisle i met the inventor of this stuff and i bought a bottle...
BTW...we talked to the inventor quite a while and he kinda slipped...
the deal is...they make 2 kinds of shiny tires (not tire luster)...
one is VERY shiny...almost plastic looking and the other is more mellow and real looking...
what he ended up telling us was that the TOO shiny stuff was twice as strong as the other and the way to do it was to buy the TOO shiny stuff and cut it 50/50 with water and get twice as much for the price of one bottle...
i did and it works awesome...
anyways...its not as easy to apply as that spray on stuff but mine has been on for months and my tires STILL look great... :yesnod:
they are NOT shiny and plastic looking...they look like nice, clean, new tires...
has any of you used tis too?
here is the link to their web site... http://shinytires.com/shiny_frames.html

After one trip on Page Mill, I usually am missing about 2" of my tire dressing on any tire. I keep the white letters clean and that's about it.

I do agree w/ DD about Meguiar's latest gel, though. That stuff is GREAT.

Thanks for the tip about Shiny Tires. How does it work w/ whitelettering? All the products I use require a deft hand, when what I truly desire is to be quick, sloppy, and bubbaesque!

My old neighbor in Texas owned a car cleaning chemical distributorship that supplied almost all the dealers and detail shops in the Austin area. He gave another neighbor a 5-gallon can of their tire product and it works great!!! Depending on how you apply it is how much it "shines" You can get the wet look or just the dark black look that I like. The best part of it is it last about 6 months before you have to reapply and it doesn't sling off the tire onto your paint. It beats the crap out of anything else I have tried. I'll try to get the name or a number where you can get this stuff. I will never use anything else.

I'm looking for anything that doesn't turn the white letters yellow because firestone wide ovals have too many letters to go around one by one!!! :nonod:

The winner of the Good Guys Street Rod of the Year actually sanded all of the letter etc. off the outside of his tires so the tires were smooth and black with nothing. Kinda takes shaving your hot rod to a new level!

I've been using a turtle wax product. The local Honda dealer uses it on the new cars and it's lasted as long as anything I've used in the past. Gonna have to try the new gel to compare.

John, get us the product name your're using!

I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun, and the ONLY thing that doesn't spray boogies down the sides of my (Black) '82 is ARMOR-ALL, which turns the White letters Yellow, and attracts dirt and dust! Gel applied by sponge, 'Wet & Black', 'More Shine, Less Time', 'Black Magic', etc. Any ideas? :cry :mad

I know you don't get any rain in Fla.

But how does it hold up after a few washings

I like to use the Eagle One brand Satin Finish tire treatment. Goes on like Armor All, but it's not shiny. I really like using it on the dash too.
