Guldstrand has (or had) a replacement lower leaf, you might check his website. ...redvetracr

I think Norval has posted recently (in someone else's thread) on how he cut his steel spring down for
clearance in his wide tire/ offset TA setup.

Your right NHvette. It is very easy to shorten a spring. Take the spring apart by removing the center bolt. Take just the main leaf and cut the amount you want to shorten the spring by from one end, not both. It is easy to cut with a chop saw. Be sure to grind the cut nice a smooth and also round the end like original.
Drill a 3/4 inch hole using a sharp drill bit, slow speed and lots of oil. Start small and work up. For a 3/4 inch drill bit you can buy them with reduced shanks to fit in 1/2 inch drills. A drill press works best.
After drilling a 3/4 inch hole measure exactly 1/2 way between the 3/4 hole on either end and mark for a new 3/8 hole. This is the new hole for reassembling the spring.
Springs are not that hard 40-45 RC and can be cut and drilled.
Saves alot of money and really doesn't take that long. Get a new center bolt of use a 3/8 cap screw with a little grinding on the head to fit in the rear end cover. I use the 3/8 cap screws all the time.
If you have trouble e mail me
Good luck

Norvalwilhelm, do you think the extra old center bolt hole is a stress riser and a place for a potential crack to start? Joe

Joe you are drilling a 3/8th hole in a 2 1/4 inch wide spring and the old 3/8th hole is hidden behind 6 or 8 other shorter leaves.
No I do not worry about this as a stress riser.
Mine has been in service like that for say 10 years.
I would like to go fiberglass for the weight saving but I would worry about shortening a fiberglass spring.

Norval i think VBP had shortened fiberglass springs. They are at my shop everyday picking up and dropping off stuff and i think i heard one of the guys mention it.
