A vacuum leak shouldn't effect wide open throttle operation unless it's large enough to actually lean out the fuel mixture enough to make a difference. A vacuum leak is more often noticed at low speeds and idle, and a vacuum leak large enough to notice at high rpm should deffinitly be noticeable at low speeds.
