Putting it together - your opinions please.
Well, heads are cleaned up, gaskets removed, valves and lifters look good.
I'm going to buy new valve springs for sure, but while I'm in there should I use the stamped rockers or go with rollers, or roller tip?
Any advantages?
Oh, and what head gasket? Thin steel for more compression?
Oh the possibilities!
:D

Tell us more about your heads, what was the previous CR. I vote roller tips...

Comp Cams roller tipped cast rockers are the ticket unless can't find the extra $60 over stamped. Less flex means more easy bolt on type HP.
With your big cam you'll need all the compression you can make. Use the .015" steel shim head gaskets from Felpro. Clean both block and heads until you see nothing but machine marks. Coat the gaskets with sealer - spray Permitex.
Highly reccommend umbrella valve seals when you assemble heads/valves ~$10. Stock o-ring seals will give you a puff of blue each morning. PC seals require guide boss machining and bronze guides - don't go there. :nonod:
Pocket porting and a 3 angle valve job can add 25 poines. Performance :chevy Products in Phoenix, AZ (602-254-9586) did mine and they looked fantastic.

Heads are the 2.02/1.60 world product SR Torquers. They only have a few thousand miles since new. Seals are the ring and band style and they look brand new. Manley stainless valves. Except for the broken dampers in the springs, everything else looked good, except for the crud built up on the piston tops. You can still see the cross hatch patterns on the cylinder walls.

Broken dampners inside the valve spring sounds like too much lift and or reved too high. You may need double or triple springs or cam change. Multi spring setups require machining. Check with your cam company for correct springs. 292 is too much duration for the street especially a 350-355. I'll guess lift is sky high too. :nono:
