Got my car back after differential rebuild :)
Well, it took a while, but I finally got my car back from a differential rebuild.
If anyone is interested:
Pinion shaft & differential snubber bushing (ZIP) -- $60
Differential Rebuild Kit (ZIP) -- $130
Two Side Yokes (eBay) -- $60
Rebuild Labor & Fluids -- $290
Removal & Replacement Labor -- $275
Total -- $815
I'm pretty pleased with that.
Especially the labor on the R&R; I couldn't pass that up.
I know, $60 for TWO yokes from eBay :skep:
But, I figured I didn't have much to lose and when I showed them to the rebuilder, he said that if they weren't new yokes that they were the best rebuilds he'd ever seen.
They aren't hardened, but heck, the originals lasted for 150k miles.
I was just glad there was no damage to the gear set or the posi-clutch pack.
The guy showed me what he found inside... bits of metal, probably from the one eaten snap ring and over a half inch of yoke material :U
Oh, and someone must have screwed up a "suck"shun job, because there was a 6" piece of suction hose jamed up in front of the gears :mad
All in all, I feel good about it.
It's nice to have my car back :yesnod:
Now back to work on the doors, the headlights, the interior........

Thanks for the breakdown of the cost. I'm about to start looking for a shop to rebuild the diff in the next couple days and its nice to know how much to expect to pay. Anybody know of a good shop around Dayton, Ohio?
