Default O/T Darn Pop-ups

it seems the Corvette Forum is infected with pop-ups. No other webpage cuases me to get so damn many pop-ups. Every time I try to write/ view something a pop-up fills my screen asking me to buy some junk. Last one said;

ARE YOU TIRED OF POP-UPS? BUY OUR JUNK AND BE FREED FROM POP-UPS FOREVER.

:mad

Hey genius your one of those annoying pop-ups. I wish they had a contact us button. If they did I'd reply "How about I pop up in your office and put my size 13 so far up your rear side you taste boot leather for weeks!!"

Hate those damn things! :mad

I hate pop-ups too :mad

But, you say it's on the forum?

I haven't seen any. Then again, I'm not out here nearly as much as I used to.

You can download Pop-up Stopper for free. I love it! Iwas getting popups from everywhere, now all I get is a little red x that flashes in the sys tray.

I don't get any on the Forum and I'm here all the time. You either have something setup wrong, maybe an old version of IE or maybe its my fireway settings??? Do you have a firewall. Get Black Ice (free) and it stops a lot of junk...

I'm thinking you've got AdWare installed on your computer. Sounds like something you downloaded (or downloaded itself) is generating the pop-ups.

Pop-up free here (on the Forum).

Nope, no pop ups on the forum.
Download this and scan for spyware: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1
Then download a pop-up killer of your choice, I personally use POW! http://download.com.com/3000-2381-81...ml?tag=lst-0-1
It allows one to select what is and what is not a pop-up based on the title of the page (specified in the head of the document). That way things that may not be pop ups won't be killed.

You should look for an adware checking program. I never get pop ups from CorvetteForum.com, and I have no pop up stopping programs at all.

My firewall blocks pop ups but not those annoying IM messages from advertisers. What really pisses me off is that most of them are offering me a way to eliminate their annoyance for a fee!!! I've never been an advocate of internet regulation but, being blackmailed, I am now.

David,

You've probably been Gator'd - open your Windows control panel - go to install/uninstall software - look for an entry that says Gator - uninstall it.

Disable java applets or get a popup stoppin program for free - better yet - get a good firewall.

I have never seen a pop-up on the forum. I no longer get them anywhere. Of course I dont get any ad, banner or popup that takes more than 1/2 second to load.
