Beating Emissions Testing? You be the Judge...
This appeared in the local newspaper today. I thought it might be of interest.

Personally, I prefer to drink my alcohol. Of course if gas prices continue to rise, cheap wine it is!
Seriously, it is a great idea. I believ that the standard for testing souldn't be "what pollution control devices are in place" but rather "what the outcome of the test is". I had a 1978 Monte Carlo I fitted with true duals and headers. The CO and HC levels were minimal. Passed 2 years straight. Got caught the 3rd. I put the cats back on and the car failed. Took 2 trips more to get the sticker. Off came the cats.

It's a pretty old trick. The way to do it is mix the alcohol in the fuel on a nearly empty tank. The more you need to "adjust" the emissions, the more alcohol you need (but more = bad for the engine). Then after the testing you fill up w/ some good old gasoline so you won't have to run an entire tank of the alcohol/gas mixture.
It works best when you are close to passing but fail.
