Can somebody in the San Jose Ca. Area look at a car for me?
Actually it is for a buddy of mine, it is listed on Ebay, and is a really nice looking 79. Here's the link to the Ebay listing...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2405119087
It looks to be a very clean, very stock 84K 79 L-82, but there are a couple of things that he has some concerns on,
1. In the pictures it looks like there is a lot of wear on the inside of the rear tires, is it a simple alignment problem or is there a major T/A problem?
2. Also since pictures don't show everything, how would you rate the car as compared to new? 10=Showroom, 7=Clean but a 15 foot paint job, 4 junk that needs a whole restoration.
I think he has some information on where the car is in San Jose, and as soon as he gets back to me I'll post it.
Thanks

I like the car. From the pic's it looks to be a real nice orginal car....not messed with...only thing missing in the engine compartment that I could see was the dist sheilding. In the interior the radio was replaced. Again from the pics (which can be deceiving) I would rate it an 8...didn't see anything wrong with the tires.

Thanks Guy!!! If my decides to buy it, we're talking about a road trip to pick it up. He's got a big Dodge Diesel and a gaint trailer, it should be a blast.

Shouldnt an L-82 have the aluminum Valve Covers? according to L-82.com the 5th digit of the VIN should be a 4 if it is going to be an L-82 equipped car, an 8 indicates and L-48 equipped car.. It does have the dual snorkle but all 79's were so equipped.

.
Your right it's definitely an L-48. The seller notes this at the very end of the pics that he received an e-mail informing him of this.
