OT-Trucks with Borlas
My Borlas have gone to a new home and no regrets. But yesterday we had a GMC Sierra in for an oil change. It was a beauty and I say that as a person who has never owned a truck in my life. Had a Vortec 8.1 liter engine (454cid) and took appropriately a PF454 AC Delco filter ;) . GM engineers must have worked on that for a long time....
In any case the stock cat cons were in place but behind was a Borla cat-back system. Dual-inlet-outlet SS muffler with twin SS pipes and tips out the back. Really quite something! And not noisy. It just rumbled confidently. I revved it a few times to "check the oil pressure gauge" before it went for a differential service and it was very impressive.
I see few 8.1L engines so this was a joy when combined with the Borla exhaust. Those GMCs are pretty trucks.

Paul, j'espere que vous savoir le 8.1 litres est quatre-cent quatre-vingt seize <<inches>>...
Are you starting to feel a little regret about not going with the borlas?
I think you're doing a good thing by going with the spintechs. If they do turn out well, I may consider them in the future.
My friend has a Suburban w/ 8.1L motor. He says pulling his boat felt like his old SBC Suburban without a boat attached. We are desparate to put Gibsons or the like on that!

Re: OT-Trucks with Borlas (Pacin'California)
Steve,
I have no regrets re the Borlas. I love to experiment. Wait for April when I see my Corvette again ;) . Then you will see pics....And yes, that GMC 8.1L is pretty impressive. I just drove it for five minutes and it spun the rear tires when I hit the gas. I do not abuse customers' vehicles but there is so much low-end torque. (Of course my normal daily transfer outside is a Sunfire....) I guess this is what the BB 427/454 fellows speak of constantly.

Yeah Paul is thinking that he shouldn't have sold me his Borla's. I get that same rumble that he heard, with just a nice growl at WOT...
I will have to go try out that 8.1.

Hey DD- get a vid of your car running down the street. Make sure you go past 5k. :) I want to hear those borlas in action. I'll probably get a vid of my vette one of these days.

Re: OT-Trucks with Borlas (Simon Alexander)
Simon,
You are correct:
litres x 61= cubic inches
cubic inches x 0.0164 = litres
There is some rounding involved but 8.1 litres or 495cid is close.

Paul, those cat-back systems are pretty impressive all around for the modern trucks. I will eventually be getting a similar system for my Dodge.

I have not been over to O/T for over a year. It did not make sense then and has gone downhill from there apparently. Some people have too much time on their hands.

It is exactly what it says it is......Off Topic.....Topics that pertain to other ideas than CORVETTES! I know that there are a lot of weird things there, but that is the idea.

Re: OT-Trucks with Borlas (SBSB)
This one is actually of great value to us here in C3. Ever have to pull trailer a with non-running vette behind a mini van?

Cu x 16.41 = mL
mL / 16.41 = mL
i derived it by playing with 5700(5.7L) and 350

Re: OT-Trucks with Borlas (battsup)
A 350 CID is 350 x .0164 = 5.74 litres
A 5.7L is 5.7 x 61 = 348cid
As noted there is some rounding of the numbers.
