That ugly space where the wipers hide?
After som embarising coments at some carshows this past summer. I finally took the time to clean up that hard to clean area where the wipers are this is what I did.
I took apart everything and/or removed every thing in there sand blasted and painted it then i scrubed and washed out the area. After that I dried it out very well so I could paint that as well. however I noticed that there was come coating there I persume that it was there fore some sort of sealant to keep the rain out. So I undercoated it instead of painting. Then of course put every thing back. and :hurray:
this is what it looks like.
What do you think.

Looks pretty clean from my house.
I have my firewall removed and was scraping all the crap that the factory
dumped all over everything to keep it from leaking and rusting. They seem
to have used excessive amounts and just let it ooze all over the place.
Undercoating it sounds like a good idea. That area is more like a rain gutter,
letting the rain run out to the sides. Anything to help waterproof it can't be bad.
 :seeya

They do make a cover that covers up that area and has cut outs so the wipers will work.
Just a thought.

I cleaned mine out and sprayed black rubberized rocker panel paint in there, it looks great and it is sealed just like from the factory. :D

When mine was still apart I buffed the wiper transmissions on a wheel. They almost look like chrome, turned out way cool. Wish I had a picture to share but I don't.

I've cleaned mine up before, painted, etc. but it just collects dust that then gets wet from rain, washes, etc. and slowly deteriorates.
