Attn. Rat owners that have run the 1/4
This is kinda an offshoot of the 427 small block thread so you may want to read through that first so you know what we are getting at here. Anyway we are looking for ET's and trap speeds for your cars along with your basic setups. The more info you can post the better. Thanks as always.

Pat:
I was reading that thread and posted :). As for my motor:
468, ran 12.4 @ 116mph. I have never hooked a timing light up to my car, I also ran that time with 3.36 gears, 4 speed manual transmission and 215/70/15 BF radial TAs! That has to be somewhat impressive. This season I hope to find out what my car can really do (4.11s & slicks). I have done very little tuning to my car...pretty much just slapped the carb on and went (it's running really rich). Whenever I tune it and lean it out I hope to get my MPH up to around 118-119MPH. My cam is very mild 294S .595"/.595"....there are small blocks running around with bigger cams. Compression ratio of 10.5:1. My heads cost me $450 they came pocket ported with larger valves (they're from 1966!)....that just shows that big block Chevy heads flow great. I also explained why they flow so great in the post.
I love big blocks! I also love small blocks too! Really any carbureted V8 gets my attention.

Nice to hear from you again. Gordon's motor is pretty wicked....not to mention he has a TON of track time :). How many runs are you up to now Gordon?

Re: Attn. Rat owners that have run the 1/4 (bence13_33)
Not as many as I would like to have. Last year was a little light. Don't know the count but I'm not as good as I would like to be. There is way more in the motor Just have to get some dyno time to tune it in. (Mike69 are you listening). Have to get rid of this #&*%$ white crap first. More expected tonight. :(
Joe: I'm sure next time that won't be the case with your new motor

Gordon, this new motor will be a pretty old motor by the time I get it finished. :D It seems like every nut and bolt costs $500, and after owning the '79 with the 406/ROD combo my priorities for the '68 have changed a bit. The motor will be a little more radical that I had first planned, because you really can't have enough power :)

I think you have a LOT left in there, we just need to fine tune it. :yesnod:

Re: Attn. Rat owners that have run the 1/4 (73 LS-4)
I've got modest results so far for a modest engine. Several trap speeds of 112+ MPH w/ a best ET of 12.41. As I've stated before, my best ET came on a night when I burned 2 new plug wires on the way to the track, causing me to shortshift in 1st & 2nd and pull 3rd at less than full throttle to stay out of the miss- trap speed was 108+ on that run. All runs took place before upgrading from stock intake, stock hood, & before my current torque converter, so I don't know what it'll run right now. Cam specs are .517/.529 lift w/ 220/226 duration @ .050 but I'm prepping for a much stouter cam & some additional headwork VERY soon.
