69 Wiper door question
My wiper door will not open when I turn on the wipers. If I reverse the hoses that go into the can on the firewall the door will open. To close I have to reverse hoses again. Headlights work fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: 69 Wiper door question (telk)
Under the wiper door and grille on the passenger side is a vacuum relay valve. This valve will not let the wiper door close until the wiper depresses the movement in the vacuum relay valve. This controls vacuum to the vacuum canisster that you are switching the hoses on. I have a original owner 68 and original owner 70 but have never had any problems to troubleshoot yet. Just wanted to make you aware of vacuum relay under the wiper door assembly. Can you raise the wiper door with the override vacuum pull down switch under the steering column? I have read that Dr. Rebuild has a good operation schemetic in his catalog. Good luck.

I'll email a diagram I made of my '69 vaccum system. It's in PDF format and will need an Acrobat reader that is generally free on the WEB, unless you already have on installed on your computer.

You can find a (1970, but that didn't change from 69) vacuum diagram at http://www.corvettes.de.vu (yes, that's my site and yes, it's a shameless plug for it :D ) plus some other stuff. (The diagramm is filed under resources - Data, I believe).
