I have looked under the the wiper doors while they were "up" and the news is bad. Dirt, grunge, overspray, and just plain jacked up. The door height needed adjustment anyway. If I remove the six screws that are on the louvered door, will it come off. Then what is the procedure for removing the other wiper door entirely? I don't want to mess it up but I really need to get in there and clean that mess up. I'm just intimidated by all those moving parts. Is this a major job to take it off and get it back on like it is supposed to be? I sure need some advice on this one guys. A link to a tech site may help.

I don't find it difficult.
Open the hood. Remove the screws on the vented piece.
Remove that piece (open the wiper door cause it's easier to remove).
With the wiper door open remove the mounting screws closest to the windshield. These are under the door and have bushings going into the hinge assembly. Tip the door up and remove the front screws. Start cleaning.

The screws in the vent above the wiper door will allow removal of this cover. As far as the wiper door itself, I have never pulled it. Sorry.

Rick - Be very careful to pre-lube the pivot bolts (ones with plastic bushings) because the are super easy to twist off and expensive to replace. I'd suggest liquid wrench over night before starting to wrench on them.

WAIT WAIT WAIT Absolutely make sure you soak the bolts that hold the wiper door on because they will twist off almost for sure and you do NOT want to deal with trying to get fix that problem TRUST ME I have done it. :smash:

While you have things apart, clean out the leaves, dirt and junk that falls down the fresh air inlet on the passenger side of the wiper cavity. I used a piece of 3/4" rubber hose duct taped to a shop vac to suck out the crud. You'll be amazed at what's in there.

I really don't think my setup was ever stock that way, but the 4 pivot bolts for the door are just ordinary 3/16 dia bolts for me...and they work fine, never had had any shims or plastic pieces...another thing....I find taking a dremel and cutting a screw slot across the tip of the bolt will make inserting a LOT easier...just use a small screw driver inthe hole and turn counter clockwise...while you hold the bolt from underneath....lots easier.....I use a dap of RTV black to hold the bolt in place, done this a bunch of times over the years.....works fine...
