Default wiper motor and rear spring question

On my '79 I have 3 wires (up & down) and a seperate wire at the bottom,
I'm assuming is a ground. Can anyone tell me what the other three are ?
My rear spring was flat when I got the car ( a month ago). How bad is this
other then my ride height being a little low ?

Replace the rear spring. Worn ones have been known to break. Replacement steel springs are not expensive, or you can go with fiberglass if you have the budget. If you're feeling poor, a spring shop can bend it back to life.

Your wiper motor has 3 terminals. The center terminal is 12 volts hot all the time from the wiper fuse. The other 2 are high and low speed. The hot all the time terminal (center) allows for the stowaway position when neither of the other 2 have power. The 4th wire is ground and is seperate. The center wire is labled as a yellow wire, #93B on my 75 schematic, it may or may not be the same on your 79. :)

I had a not-so-great experience with trying to re-arch the leaf spring that came on my car when I got it. I say avoid that hassle and get a new spring - Eaton Spring if you're going steel.

OK, that helps. Having trouble with mine. Not working from the inside.
Guess I'll look at the switch next. Thanks

7T9, I got the impression that perhaps it works when wiring it direct using the terminal descriptions I mentioned above? If so, it could be the swith, also check the forward wiring harness connection at the firewall. Those terminals can get corroded and not make connection. Also make sure you have a good ground to the wiper motor, it won't self-ground through the mounting bolts like a steel car. Please let me know if I can help further?

Ok tks. Yeah I can run a wire from the top wire to a ground and get it working
but of course it dosent stop. Not sure where the whole thing is suppose to ground at but maybe thats the problem.
