While-I'm-At-It-Itis
Man, things can get out of hand.
--The project started as a simple caliper job--there was a leak on the driver's side rear. It grew into four new calipers--and S.S. lines with new pads and rotors and master cylinder and vacuum booster.
--While I was at it, I figured I'd install longer lug studs. Fronts were easy Rears were not since I left the spindles in the car. Grrrrr.
--As I finally finished that job I noticed waaaaay too much slop the right side yoke in the diff.
--That turned into a posi rebuild, new side yoke clips, solid U joints and new 3.70 gears.
--And, while I took everything apart to R&R the diff. (again), I noticed the strut rod and spring end bushings were trashed.
--So, call up Energy Suspension for more parts.
Now I'm thinking, "Why not do the trailing arm bushings, too?"
No. I want to drive the car. The trailing arm bushings are in great shape. The trailing arm bushings are in great shape. The trailing arm bushings are in great shape. The trailing arm bushings are in great shape. The trailing arm bushings are in great shape.

You've got it...bad. My worst one was some carb tuning that turned into a new ZZ4, that turned into new headers, SS pipes and mufflers! :lolg:

Re: While-I'm-At-It-Itis (Mystery Machine)
I think we all have it so some degree. My broken rear spring turned into a complete rear suspension rebuild, new gears, a bunch of powdercoating, pulling the gas tank and a 700r4 tranny to make use of the new gears. Since I did all that I put a 383 in the next year because the stock motor just sucked. It never ends :cry

Well, with new trailing arm bushings (You KNOW you're gonna do 'em) -
then the whoile front end will be loosy-goosy. You're gonna have to go with
new A arm bushings and ball joints.
Just do a body off.Just do a body off.Just do a body off.Just do a body off.Just do a body off.

Re: While-I'm-At-It-Itis (The Dude)
Let's see. Mine started out as a blown clutch; since I had to pull the trans; might as well pull the motor; well the motor is out should clean up the engine compartment; that wiring in there is pretty nasty; engine compartment looks better then the body, might as well strip and repaint; hey can't have a nice paint job with a ratty interior; looks good, better rebuild the front suspension; shoot, rear spring is shot, might as well rebuild the rear suspension; 400hp motor, needs fuel injection.
That all only took 7 years and almost $20K, heck of a nice car now. Now my family wants me to sell it and find something with a back seat  .

I was just gonna rebush the front suspension. That turned into a bigger job than I ever thought. Pull the motor, new heads, new cam, headers, blah, blah, blah. Pull the tranny and ensure everything is good. New seals throughout. Might as well put power steering on while I am at it. New stainless lines for the front. New calipers and brake pads. Refinish the engine bay. New vaccum lines everywhere. Put it all back together. Drive it when the weather is decent.
