C3 times
Just out of curiosity I'd like to know if anyone knows the times on a stock 350/350 stingray w/4spd, since this is a common model I think maybe someone has tested it. There's some rice burners that want to race me and I really don't want to beat by a honda. Anyone have any idea what the times could be? :steering:

Re: C3 times (Montezumas_Viper)
That seems a little borderline, need to be able to beat a turboed ford probe. What do you think I set of decent sized drag radials would do for my time?

the probes gonna kick your azz, i know i dont want to admit it either but unless if your running low 14s or high 13s your gonna get done.

Re: C3 times (Montezumas_Viper)
Why is the vette so slow? or should I ask why is the probe so fast. Even with the turbo the probe only sits arround 180 or so hp, granted its a light it still shouldn't be able to match up to a GT mustang which is in the range of those times, and even more the GT's were a lot slower back then then they are now thats even comeing in range with z28 camaro's, I don't think ford would want to alienate there mustang with a cheap car like that. The vette isn't to heavy and even being overated 50 or so hp it still sits arround 300hp that comes on a lot faster then turbo charged power. So someone tell me how this could be.

But in any case I only have to come up with a second, i'm stongly considering putting a rebuilt 68 427 in it and some bigger tires, anyone have any idea what kind would be good or some info on what I should do first?

Re: C3 times (Montezumas_Viper)
I would think if your car is healthy (motor is sound), you should beat a 180 hp probe.
Assuming your car is healthy.....Options to modify your car include: headers and 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust and some sticky tires and a modern cam. Your Lt-1 intake and Holley 780 vac. carb don't need to be changed. This should put you into the low 14's to high 13's. Add a decent set of aluminum heads (AFR 190's), and you will be low 13's to high twelves. Enough to solidly trounce most any street ricer (there is always exceptions, and turbo cars can dial up a lot of boost). As mentioned earlier, you can always drop in an 700 hp rat!

Re: C3 times (74vetteman)
#1 A Ford Probe is a 168hp girly car. Good for high 15s.
#2 An L46 would run 14.5 on 1969/1970 era bias plies. With the right rubber there is no reason for not getting times in the 14 flat area.

Re: C3 times (Montezumas_Viper)
My 69 started life as a 350/350 with 3.36 and wide ratio 4 speed. No way the torque of a normally aspirated or un-juiced Honda will equal the torque of the L46. I would burn the tires pretty hard going into 2nd on a 6,000rpm power shift. The car would also launch hard too. Such driving doesn't help long term drive train operation, but the car should pull hard up about 80-90mph. Above that, more hp is needed. The L88 transplant more than took care of this requirement.

Re: C3 times (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
when my car was stock, it would barely pull on honda's and mustangs.. 350/300hp with a TH400 and 3.08 gears.. now that i have a rebuilt motor (327/330? hp) with the same tranny but installed a shift kit and kept the same gears i somehow propelled myself into the high 13s. given thats not much but i can walk hondas and stangs like its my job
now comes the 4 spd... 3.55 rear end... heads.. cam.... and I'll be good for a high 12 if i hook

Re: C3 times (Montezumas_Viper)
So does anyone have any idea what the times are with the steel belted (new tires) instead of the bia's plys?
