I have a neighbor that works for a company that manufactures palletizing and packaging equipment. Clients bring their products down here (near St. Louis) for testing and they frequently leave their test samples behind.

One of their clients is Kokanee beer. My neighbor had more cases then he could drink (imagine that) so he gave me a case of the Kokanee as well as a case of Labatt Draft. To my knowledge, neither is available here in the states at least not in this area.

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to crack one open. I live in Budweiser country but I don't care much for it. How does Kokanee and Labatt Draft compare on the "champagne vs. swill scale"? I like Molson Canadian but don't care much for Labatt Blue if that tells you anything.

Personnally I think Canadian tastes like swill and Blue is my second choice. Miller Genuine draft is my prefered beer

Kokanee..... is a not bad beer, not great beer either

Labatt draft is pretty good.


Face it none of these beers are the "champagne" but they each have there unique personalities

I only buy and serve Molson Canadian at my place although we are having a large 50th birthday party this weekend so I might be forced to serve a variety. I will push everything else and try hidding the Canadian :)

the Kokanee we get here in Toronto is not that great..i think it is made in Hamilton...the Kokanee i had out west was the real stuff and was really good from what i can remember...

Labatt Draft is definately swill, my prference is Alexander Keith when I am in Nova Scotia but usually buy either Harp, Bass or Guiness draft. :cheers:

Out here in Winnipeg (the west) the Kokanee is good, but not my first choice don't care for Labbatt's or Molson's, Alexander Kieth's India Pale Ale is nice as is Sleeman's and local one Fort Garry Pale Ale which is really good if it's on tap. As far as American beer goes i really like the Coor's that you get in Colorado. :cheers: :cheers:

A guy I work with is from Canada, he brought me back some Molson XXX and I loved it! Every time he goes up I have him bring me back a case. :cheers: :cheers: :yesnod:

damn...we don't even have the XXX here anymore. :/ It was the best! But anyway...here we all drink molson export. As for the 2 u got, I'd say the draft is the better of the two.

I don't mean to offend anyone here, but Molson Canadian is about as tasty as sewer water, and Labatt's Blue isn't any better. Both are awful beers. Yuck! My personal preference is Ricker's Red, especially from the tap, but in the bottle is also good. I was introduced to it by my father in law, and I haven't looked back. Before then, I used to drink Molson Dry, because it lived up to it's claim of having no bitter after-taste. I would never have choosen a "red" beer for myself, but after I downed the one my father-in-law gave me, I was a changed man. Almost a religious experience. :cheers:

The kokanee out here In BC is a lot better that the stuff brewed in the east.

Western-brewed Kokanee isn't a bad mainstream beer, but since being taken over by the Molson's or Labatts (I forget who), the quality has gone down. Alexander Keith's is quite good, but my favorites are Big Rock brewery products like Traditional Ale, and Grasshopper beer. These are made in a micro-brewery manner (non-pastuerized), but delivered right across Canada (I believe) and into some US states. Just remember that the fresher beer is, the better it tastes. I don't know why they don't put best before dates on beer! :cheers:

Blue, Canadian, Kokanee, LGD all taste the same to me. I'm not much of a lager fan, but these labels are typical mainstream fare. Labatt Wildcat is kinda neat though.

I also find that it is very difficulty to get a good beer.........much prefer RUM and COCA-COLA..............hmmmmmm....isn't there a soong by that time title??

I don't normally drink any of these whimpy beers or flat ales that taste like dishwash water. I prefer the German and Dutch Pilsners, like Heineken. The only one who comes close is the Danish CarlsBurg Pilsner. In shear desparation, I will drink Molson Export. Don't you guys have any taste buds?

Grolsch (Premium Pilsner) first, Becks second. then a whole time of nothing.....then: Guinness.
