OK... what do you think of this 73?
Referencing my previous post here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=497775
Info:
1973 coupe
4spd
L48
77k original miles
No A/C (only options are power steering/brakes and a luggage rack)
$10000 is the asking price
350 (NM I think) bored .020 over, flat top pistons, Performer intake, QJet, upgraded water pump/oil pump, "60" cam (he didn't rebuild the engine, was professionally done).
Yellow, black interior
NO rust that I could see on the frame (need to get there with more light/flashlight). Small sport (pencil head) on the door jamb on the passenger side).
Weatherstripping is shot on the doors and ttops (no wonder they leak).
Started right up, small amount of smoke, some amount of steam (its 50 out there)
Headlights came up slowly (right sloow). Probably need rebuilt.
I didn't get to test drive it (night and rainy).
(Its on traderonline here: http://adcache.collectorcartraderonl...4/41714814.htm )
Now... for the pictures :)
Gauges at idle (500RPM)
Chipping on the door edge... the paint is 10/15 footer (chips and overspray) from about 10-12 years ago.
So whatcha think?
I think its a little high but a nice driver :smash:

Looks like a pretty decent looking '73. I know some of the vettes people were looking at have been ripped pretty good by the forum members as of late with $4000-$5000 values, but I really think now is a good time to buy one if you are looking. I'd say you should definitely find a way to get the car up on a car lift to get a good look at the bottom components(tranny leaks, rear seal leaks, frame condition, front end wear) and get a compression check done. Then make an offer.

It looks pretty nice to me! I think it has a few unoriginal items on it (but who's doesn't!) such as the center guage bezel (I think that's the one from a '68 or '69 and the front spoiler is later, maybe like '78 or later. Actually though I like both of those items better than the the ones on my '73!
Don't let the seller convince you that it's worth more because of the one year only design, I don't think it truly is worth any more than any other year in equal condition. Honestly I don't know if $10K is a fair price...it seems about right. I paid $5K for mine but it needed an interior and a new motor (about $7K spent on those 2 items).
Try to get it on a lift, check the things like windsheild for rust/deterioration and most definitely drive it first.
Good luck and let us know what happens!

Ideally I'd like to get a car like this for 8-9K but if it looks OK on the lift, there is no shame in paying 10K for a car that doesn't need any major work.

That one is very near condition to the 73 I bought about 2 years ago. I paid $7800 for mine. The only diff I can see is that mine was auto and had A/C and was white. Another vote for getting it up on a lift to check the bottom side.

I noticed an HEI distributor and the tach works. Is it an electronic tach or a tach drive HEI? Not that it matters much, but it was originally mechanical. Looks like a cool car. I like the yellow.
