Default How-to: Determining moment center

For those that are interested in re-engineering your front suspension, the first step is knowing exactly what you are starting with. To that end, you need to have some very precise measurements of the various pivot points. If you look in the new issue of Circle Track Racing Technology there is a very good article describing the process. If I had a little more room in the (one car) garage I would do this myself, but I am hoping someone with the space and the patience will do it right and clue us in. After that, it is just a matter of designing a new spindle using one of the commercially available suspension analysis programs. I'll bet spindles could be designed to work on either side, thereby reducing the machining costs. Or perhaps Detroit Speed and Engineering could be persuaded to build some for sale. So get out those rulers....
