Black Out Paint on inside of door
Guys,
My car is in the process of being painted and the doors are done, but I now want to paint the "blackout" that was used on the inside front edge before I have them hung.
Can someone give me the rough "area" this was done? I dont seem to be able to find an accurate description in any of my books.
Also, anyone know where I can find the black "goo" that holds the water barrier for the door on?
What color was the water barrier? was it paper? or the plastic kind? The originals are long gone.
cheers
Nick

My 69 has not been repainted in the door Jamb area so I will look and re post. As for the water barriers.... Mine were clear (like a dropcloth) flexible plastic and the glue was dark brown applied rather hap hazardly.
OK.. the inner door on the inside of the weatherstrip is sem-gloss black on the front side of the door. The hinge area is blue(or whatever color the car is)

There is very little information on painting that area. I think it is the triangular area between the door trim panel and the weatherstripping. I think the black area goes all the way down to the lower door clip that holds the door trim panel, but I am not sure all models have that clip.

Ok cool....I have an idea now....
Is the black supposed to fade out at the bottom? or is it a masked line?
I guess its off to Home Depot for some sheet plastic for the water barriers.
thanx again guys,
Nick

OK... the bottom of the inner door is black too. The blue at the door jamb just fades away about half way around the radius like the painter mad an attempt to at least get the whole rear panel.

The door panel water barrier was attached with Butyl tape, or something similar. I used the forementioned.
Check the NCRS board for the paint query.
