C-3 Coupe to Vert conversion questions....
The vette I own was converted from a coupe to a convertible back in '89 with a new frame & a complete new GM rear convertible clip when it was done. The top of the windshield support of the coupe was cut about 6" from the top and a convertible version was spliced back in. The questions I have are...
Is it possible to just cut out the coupe top and upper rear deck lid and put in a convertible version by splicing/fiberglassing it in? The rear upper deck for a convertible is available up until '75, so can you cut out the hardtop section and replace it? And if you can.... Can you use the '74-'75 vert upper deck to convert let's say an '80 to a vert?

Alwyn678,
I'm not sure if I have brought it up, but definitely a nice '74 vert you got there. I see you don't have the stock 195HP version either.
Guessing I was just :banghead: against the wall looking someone else who chopsawed up their coupe to a vert.

Well when i asked this question about a vert conversion on an '80 the responses i got were that it is far easier to just change the front and rear clips. I personally would go this way cause im lazy and scared that i would mess up a perfectly good car. also you would need to strengthen the 80 a bit more because your removing a lot glass and allowing a lot of bodyflex to occur.

Yes you can do that, there are a couple of little things that won't be exact, but it will still work.
The T Top bar unbolts from the windshield and a Stainless steel trim peice covers that part of the windshield. it is a very hard to find part.
I have that part and want to trade it for a '74 center grill.
