Default 'Nother '68 question: original paint color

The black book lists 4,779 '68's with code 983 "British Green" paint, making it the most common color for that year.

Is that color "metallic"? or is it.. um... what's the word for non-metallic... "opaque"??? I've always thought of British Racing Green (BRG) as being a wonderful color for a car... especially when combined with a tan leather interior. The '68 tan color was "tobacco", but only available with black, white, or bronze paint. I guess GM didn't agree with my sense of style...

My 69 was originally green with saddle interior. Previous owner painted it black and dyed interior red.
I have always loved the BRG with tan interior, however I don't like the 69 tan interior color, so I've decided to keep the black and red. It's growing on me :p: :p:

"" The '68 tan color was "tobacco", but only available with black, white, or bronze paint.""
The "tobacco" color in '68 was a very dark brown color, not the "saddle"(tan) color you might be thinking of. '68's did have a Saddle color(421 Trim number, I believe)that is not listed the "Corvette Black Book".

The green is metallic and the other word you were looking for is solid color.I am doing a 68 vert that same color for one of our soldiers overseas right now. :flag
