How can I remove glue and NOT the paint?
I just removed these black ground effects that replaced the side rocker panels. But the goober who put them on decided to use glue instead of screws. How can I get rid of this dried, rubbery elastic glue without losing the paint underneath? If I pull, the glue comes off- unfortunately so does the paint!
Any advice?
Thanks!

I don't know but WD40 might work. I know it desolves some glues and I have used it on paint many times without a problem. My wife uses it to remove dried lables on jars she wants to keep. Given a little time it dissolves the glue and the jars washes clean.
I have used it to remove bugs on the front of my car and never had a problem with the paint.]
I also wonder about varsol but I am not sure if soaking the paint would do it any harm. I have washed painted parts in my parts clear without any problems.
I am just guessing.
Good luck

For small jobs I've used standard carb and choke cleaner. Just spray down the area and it softens the glue enoungh to rub it off with a soft cloth.

yea 3m adhesive remover works pretty good, wont hurt your paint. you might also try an eraser wheel. will fit in die grinder or drill. wont hurt the paint and will work very nice. we use em on decals, stripes , etc at the shop to clean that stuff off before paint. have also used em to take off 2 sided tape and sometimes yellow gorilla snot. any good paint store should have em.

3M definitely is the right thing to use. If you don't have it handy, I usually use mineral spirits. It won't damage the paint, yet will dissolve glue, pine sap, and other organic nasties.
