Which Blower Wire?
I have a blower capacitor question:
On my car (with A/C), there's a purple wire hooked up directly to the blower, and there's a capacitor present, but not connected to anything.
On the wiring diagrams I have for non-A/C models, it shows an orange wire connected to an in-line capacitor, and the capacitor connected to the blower.
For A/C models, the diagrams shows the purple wire powers the blower, but it's not clear if the capcitor is used or not.
Can someone with stock A/C see if the capacitor is in-line with the purple wire or not?

I am not sure how this works, but I thought the blower had two power sources. One for the normal operations, and a heavy duty wire to the battery source for the max AC position. This is a very foggy memory byte from some where in the past.

Re: Which Blower Wire? (R. Bruno)
Thanks for the reply. Let me clarify my request: my drawings clearly show the purple wire (not the orange wire) to power the blower on models with A/C. But I'm not clear if the capacitor is supposed to be in line (ie: purple wire to capacitor, capacitor to blower), of if the capicitor is bypassed?

Re: Which Blower Wire? (kenko74)
All,
Got the interior finished, all dash wires hooked back up, and started the car. Everything electrical works! SO to answer my question, for models with A/C, the purple wire (not the orange wire) hooks to the capacitor, then the capacitor hooks to the blower motor. All speeds (even the high speed which didn't used to work) work!
Cheers,

I think my relay is bad on the firewall. If I hook my purple wire direct to 12vdc the blower comes on. but with the relay in place I have no blower operation. Do you guy's concure that the relay is bad???.
Thanks

Does in not work in all positions?
Everything except high?
Nothing but high?
It is a different solution to each.
The FIRST thing to do is check the fuse and any connections.
I went nuts with this on my 74 as everything checked ok. Finally, I pulled the fuse out... it was good. As soon as I put it in the blower started. 29 years of stuff causing a high resistance connection.
