HELP!!! I'm in WAY too deep
Here's the situation....
I'm pulling the engine in a week, the dash is out so that I can add vintage air and run the new wiring harness.
Since I bought the car, I've been fighting brake problems that have finally been identified as a bad return spring on the pedal.
Even with the entire dash out, I can't even see the spring behind the steering column.
So, do I really have to pull the steering column to get to it? Or is there some other way. I have no idea how to pull the column but I am starting to wonder if I will ever get the car running again.
I am sure that I will, but it is becoming less and less likely for this spring.
HELP please :)

The steering column is not really that hard to pull. You have to remove the rag joint to seperate the two parts of the column, remove the cover under it, take out the 2 bolts that hold it to the under dash support, and the bolts that bolt it to the firewall. Make sure you disconnect everything from it first, like the wiring harness. I may have missed a thing or two, but it's really not that hard to figure out once you are under there.

So I don't have to pull the steering wheel and all of that stuff? That is what worried me because of the tilt tele.
Any tricks to making this an easier job?

There are papers on steering column removal at : http://www.corvettefaq.com/steering.asp
Jim Shea has some good information there. (Worked for me!)
One suggestion if you are not doing it already, take plenty of photos with a digital camera. They work a LOT better than my memory, especially after some time has past.
