if by 502 springs, you mean the 502 engine, no. that will raise your car. big block springs have a higer spring rate (stiffer) and are taller than small block because of the extra weight of a big block. i bet %90 of the replies here will tell you to cut a coil off your current springs. this will work, but it raises the spring rate too (making it ride worse). i think VB&P sells 2" lowering springs. these are better because you know what the spring rate will be, and you wont be wearing them out faster. but keep in mind any new springs will need to settle before they get to thier optimum ride height.

Personally, i plan on cutting 1/2-1 coil off the front, and buying the 2" lowering bolts for the rear until i can afford the VBP transverse suspension. it will make it ride worse, but i can deal.

ever see the hondas that bounce like crazy when they hit a minor bump? they bounce all nutty because of the 4-6 coils they cut off and they keep bouncing because this wore out the shocks :lolg: you might need new shocks if you do lower it by cutting coils, but i havent looked that far into it.

You mean the 550 springs, David.

Disagree w/ Benny on this one. They will lower the car... the 550 springs and the springs Benny talk about are the same thing. Big Block Spring = 550 spring. Obviously, a big block motor would ride lower than a small block... although a small block w/ fully charged AC is roughly the same weight as an alum-head BB.

You can get them at any parts store for about $89. Ask for BB springs for a 70 vette. I cut off 3/4 and I'm still high. I plan to cut another 1/2 coil before I lower it off the jackstands.
