Russel/Airquipt Red & Blue finish remover?
I'd like to remove the red and blue finish on some Russel AN fittings and get to a polished finish. Any ideas on how to do this?

You can replace them with the stainless "finish" ones... :jester
Not really sure, I have seen some of them painted though.

Aren't they anodized aluminum fittings? There are a few manufacturers who offer stainless or clear anodized fitttings for you (and me) who like their parts to look anonymous.

I just read a few weeks ago a method of removing the anodizing from AN hose fittings in one of the gear head mags. Of course now I can't find the article or remember what it was for sure, but I'm thinkin it was spray on oven cleaner. Don't quote me on that. You might try it on a junk piece

I need to know also, I've got some nitrous fittings that need to be either replaced or polished. TTT

Aerosol oven cleaner will take the anodization off. You can also use a bufffing wheel on a bench grinder to remove the anodization and polish it to a high luster. The "stainless looking" fittings sold by Aeroqiup and the "Enduro" fittings from Russell are actually nickel plated aluminum. True stainless fittings are found in Aerquips industrial line of fittings, not typically available to distributors/retailers of Aeroquips automotive line of fittings. XRP is another source of high-quality fittings, on par with Aeroquip and Earl's. I don't think the Russell fittings are as good, their hose certainly isn't.
