Default Anyone Recommend Vancor's Fiberglass Parts?

I was looking at their hoods and front bumpers at the car show today. They wanted $350 for the hood and $250 for the bumper. Good prices, but since I don't know much about fiberglass I'm wondering if the money I save now will have to be spent later in prep work?

I got my L-88 hood from vancors last winter. I thought it looked great, but the guy who had to paint it said he had to do a lot of prep work to make it look great. You would probably be happier with Ecklers hoods as I have been told they are the best quality. So its save some now and maybe pay more later. My 2 cents worth.

I bought the front and rear bumpers from Vanacor and neither fit. They were both at least an inch short. The finish looked as if they had been primered with cheap spray can gray. I called him and asked for suggestions and the A-hole said "Your car don't fit my bumpers." I offered to drive over to Louisiana and fit his bumpers to his head. I sent the bumpers back. I paid the shipping to me and back to him and the jerk charged me a 15% restock fee. He sells junk. I read that Merlin had to do alot of work to make the Vanacor pieces fit. I called ACI-I don't have their number readily available, but the customer service was outstanding, and the parts fit like a glove.

81vette....

Did you notice how they just had their fiberglass parts thrown all over the place at the show(Houston)? To me it was like they just showed up or didn't even care to be there today. I wasn't impressed.

I bought an LT-1 hood from them last year and it was fine.

I just bought a one piece front end and a rear quarter panel from them. The parts looked good and fit nicely. The only bad thing about the front end was the lack of a metal nose bar. Other than that things went well with my purchases.

Keep Looking!! :yesnod:

They're right down the road from me...I wouldn't touch their stuff...plus their attitude is worse than their workmanship.

Looks = 9.5
Fit & quality = 3

Definitely the coolest front end on the market, but be ready to spend as much as the parts cost on fabrication & reinforcement!

At last year's show, my friend and I went through every '73-'74 bumper they had, we couldn't find one that didn't have major problems, so I walked. I got the impression they thought I was being too picky... :banghead:

I bought a rear bumper cover from them. I haven't done the finishing yet, but the prefit looks good. I'll try more parts.

Both my front and rear bumpers came from them, and fit well. Only area that didn't fit perfect was one small area in the lower front corner, and that was more a problem in my body and not the bumper. Since this was some of the first fiberglass work that I had done, I was pleased with the results. Hershey :chevy
