69 vette and 81 vett cockpit space ?
I drove my 81 for the first three days of this week and i am driving the 69 to work today. I work 35 miles from home so back and fore is 70 miles . While I am driving I tried to notic about the differences between the early C3 and the later C3 to conform what I read in some of the previous posts about late C3 have more space for over head room, rear compartment room , leg room , more comfortable ,better handling and quieter (if both stock). I pick the 81 vett for a second commute car because those reason .It seem most of the things were right , but i am not sure about the leg room , it was alittle
uncomfortable for the left leg because the door handle is in the way and the leg room seem smaller than 69 car. forum members that have those two years vett or driven them before can verify for me. 69 4sp,81 AT if it make any different. Thanks :smash:

I have a 81, when I recarpeted, I added reflectix, deadens sounds, and a heck of a lot cooler. A friend has a 69, SB, auto, stock, owned since new. She drove mine. after that She had stock 81 seats installed in hers and I sold her seats at Carlisle. 81 is a better road car, I added rear sway bar and better shocks on BFG's. It is a super car to ride vs a 69. my 25cents worth. :auto:

I have a '71 4-speed car and an '81 auto. One of the first things I noticed after I got the '81 is that it didn't seem to have quite as much room in the footwell. I didn't measure it or anything, it just feels that way. I thought maybe it was just due to different pedal location. Now you've got me wondering again. Other than that, the '81 sits nicer with the power leather seat as opposed to the vinyl in the '71.
