A COUPLE QUESTIONS ON MY NEW SPEED DEMON 650 MECH SECONDARIES????
My electric choke does not idle high enough and it does not kick in some of the time and still lets the car die if I don't tap gas. What is wrong and how do I adjust the choke? ALSO when I hit the brakes hard comming to a stop (in nuetral) it will bog down below idle speed and then if I dont catch it and tap the gas it will die. Is this normal for the speed demon? Is this not a very good carb for autocrossing? By the way what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting with this carb on a 350?

Can't help you with the choke but the bog under braking is usually a low float level :D

I have the 650 Speed Demon with the Vac secondaries. I don't have a choke on it as I live in South Florida. But, I want to tell you that I have never had my demon bog down under any type of driving.

I am running the 650 Speed Demon with Mech. secondaries on my L46. Try running it without the choke. Mine seems to run great with no choke at all. It fires right up, idles at a rock solid 700 RPM, and never has bogged (right out of the box even!). I used to have your brake problem with my old Holley 4779 carb (750 DP), but I suspect that may have been due as much to the nasty cam I used to have at the time as well. If you aren't making much vacuum or you are leaking vacuum somewhere, that could cause problems with the brakes and the way the motor is running. I have used a Holley 750 DP 4150, a Holley 600 CFM 4160, the stock Rochester, and the Speed Demon 650, and the Demon is hands down the best of the bunch. If all else fails, maybe you could try the tech line, and they could help you out?
Good luck, once you get it straightened out, I am sure you will love that carb!

i have the same carb on my zz4. Choke works fine, make sure you have a good ground and your are picking up the 12 volts.......also, go over the idle mixture screw adjustments, one on each corner. I have no complaints, runs great............also, call tech services, they are very helpful if you have additional questions.

My 650 MS had no bog, right out of the box. Was running rich, have called the tech line a couple times and they have been VERY helpful...give them a call.
