Rant about s & h charges
I can't believe that it costs that much to send an item. I was going to order a wiring chart for $11.95. When I was done it actually cost me close to $19. Now I'm not poor or anything, but I HATE when big companies take advantage of the "little" people. I guess that is how they got to be big companies. You know they buy in bulk, so they are making money on that, and then they charge handling and shipping (which is usually more than it actually costs to ship). Sorry for the rant, but it just does not seem right. :flag

When it's big companies it irritates me too. But on the other hand I sell a few things off the internet and after you figure in packaging materials, shipping costs, insurance, running back and forth to FEDEX or UPS and it adds up for the small guys(I don't mean for the ebay crooks). And shipping prices just went up, it sucks. I just wish my paychecks could keep up with everyone raising prices, cheap bosses stink.

Try buying things across the boarder. Summit has free shipping inside USA but anything going over the boarder costs us. A few pump shipped to "Toronto Ontario from summit is $50. Besides the money exchange of at leasti 54% it becomes extremely expensive.

Norval,
I sympathize with you, I'll be shipping some things to England soon so I went to look into the cost at both Fedex and UPS...I almost fainted, then the poor guy will probably have to pay some outrageous VAT and Customs on the items too.

Whenever I sell anything, I always try to find the cheapest shipper, and I never charge anything extra for packaging. I figure it's a good way to get rid of all the boxes and packing peanuts I have left over from the last stuff I ordered. So, when someone buys a shock mount from me, for example, they can usually expect it to come shipped in a huge box filled with peanuts and old newspapers. It's my way of recycling. :)

Thank god I work for Corpate UPS. :) Shipping rates just a little less. "not really we don't get any thing different than anyone else. I just get the rates that a daily shipper would with no incentives. It is annoying though that companies charge that much, on the other hand they do need to pay the people who actually sit there and package up the item figure the dimensions and ship it out.
