I have it all setup for this weekend. 2 friends from my Corvette club will remove my stock 3:08 diff and put in a rebuilt 3:55. Rebuilt side yokes and mounting kit.

I know I have several color/teeth gears that I can install in the trans for the speedo cable but I dont know which one I need for a 3:55. This is such a simple thing to do. anybody know which one I need ?

The Chevy parts guy says I have these choices but he does not know which one I need.
18 Brown
19 Natural
22 Green
23 Black
24 Yellow
25 Orange
21 Red
22 silver
20 Blue

My car has a 3.55 rear and I have the 22 tooth green gear. Anecdotal at best, but I do know that my speedo reads correctly.

I did this change 4 years ago. You will need to change more than the gear on the cable. The new gear will not fit into the housing. I checked with transmission shops and a speedo shop and both told me you would have to change the gear inside the case as well. They do make a reducer/adaptor that would fit in the cable. It would have a short cable hooked up to the transmission that went to the adaptor and your cable would hook up to the adaptor and go to the speedo.
Thats what I was told.

From looking at the ZIP catalog it says I will need drive gear sleeve that matchs the number of teeth. I guess the pan has to be dropped to get to the gear and sleeve.
