Default Mystery Part - HELP

So, I've gutted the interior of my '71. After removing the brake and clutch pedals and mounting bracket, I find this sort of washer-like piece of spring steel lying on the driver's side floorboard. It is round, .015 thick spring steel, 1-1/4 inch diameter with a 3/8 inch hole in the center. It has about a 1/4 inch arch to it. Looks like it is meant to keep tension on some sort of linkage connection, but I can't see it in the assembly manual for either the brake or clutch linkage. I sure do want to put it back where it belongs, but . . .

Any help would be appreciated.

o.k. i'll venture a guess. did it come off the stud on the side of the clutch peddle rod? i could be wrong but i thought there was something like that between the rod that attatches to that stud and the cotter to keep all that force from being focused on that cotter. maybe, maybe not

Clutchdust - That's the kind of thing I was thinking, but the assembly manual did not show such a part. I'll look again. It was late and my other mistress was calling, so I might have missed it.
