C3 dash cover / pad
Hey all,
I'm planning to buy a dash cover for my '79. I've found these two that I like:
From "Partsmonster" on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...402683219&rd=1
From Corvette America: http://www.coriliketospam.com/main.c...r=454821451787
The one from Corvette America comes painted, which I like, but the one from eBay claims to have the best fit around the edges because they curve in, making it difficult to tell it's a cover.
Has anyone had any experience with either of these? I'm leaning towards the Corvette America cover, but I'll go with the other one if there really is a difference in fit. All comments welcome.

IMHO it's not a deal as it is a temporary solution to an underlying problem. You'll pay 25 to 30% of the cost of a true replacement but have all the labor of fixing it right. In no time at all you'll be having to deal with the problem again. Fix it right the first time even if you have to wait in order to afford it.

you guys with late C3's have it even rougher than I do with my '72, you all are like a GTO that has to redo the entire dash panel all at once, not just an individual dash top piece.....I just can't believe the prices for a 'new' recovered dash cap assy....I"'ts only plastic for christsakes, not a damn goldmine.....or maybe it IS, that 's the whole point....can anyone spell RIP_OFF???

I bought one of the ones like you linked to on ebay. While
it is an impressive piece of plastic I did not like the look
or the feel much. It did fit nice though.
I ended selling it and buying a complete replacement.

I have one.
The instructions say you can isntall it with the dash in the car, well forget about that it's way easier to take it out to glue the pad on. You will need some clamps to hold the stuff together.
The plastic may look decent but it's very thick. so thick that a lot of stuff doesn't fit right, especially the light switch and the glove box door. I needed to trim it a lot. Furthermore the pad is not cut for the A/C illumination (the little projection light that goes into the top of the center console) so you'll need to do some cutting there.
Also, the speaker grilles are not removable, you'll have to cut them out.
If I were to do it again I would get a whole new dash.

Found this on Ebay also. It's just the top piece but looks like it might do the trick if the only thing cracked on the dash is the top pad:
