Default "Annoying rattle in the back"... fixed? Dynamat...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=199139

A year and 2 months ago, I came to you guys for help.

I was laying in the back, cleaning the rear window and started knocking on panels to satiate my curiousity. The center of the large rear panel made a very loud, obnoxious noise. Yuck!

I finally THINK I've got it. I pulled the rear panel out and packed it w/ Dynamat Xtreme. The stuff is expensive, but very easy to use. I drove the car around a bit, and think the noise is gone. The panel still has a bit of noise, but nowhere near as obnoxious as before. We'll see how it goes...

-Steve
PS It took me a 1 1/6 years to fix the rattle I was complaining about.
PPS It took me 1 1/2 years to fix the left front headlight. I called the actuator seal the "thing that always goes bad" when I first learned about it.
PPPS I love this forum. :)

Ohhhh - It's so rewarding to watch the kids grow up and learn for themselves.

Good job Steve. These little annoying things are most often left 'til you 'have time'.

Congrats, as the post you are making lately are very informative and show
a true love for the hobby. We could certainly use more youngsters like
yourself to keep the flame burning. Ok - enough sentimental crap.

Now go clean your room !! :jester

PS - You ARE the forum. Now, stop loving yourself so much !! :lolg: :lolg:

Installing a nice set of subwoofers probably would have worked just as well!

To be honest, that's probably just about what I'd done until now. The louder the vibration, the louder the volume on my sound system. When I'm driving grandma around though... I gotta pick one or the other. And she HATES my music about as much as her music drives me insane. :) So, we get to listen to the orchestra of the back window panels.

I've got my fingers crossed for this one...

NHvette- I hardly feel like I'm contributing anything. I've learned 10,000x times as much as I've put back. :) At least I know a little bit about the headlight vac sys that has so many people cringing. I guess that's a start...

Stop loving myself? :smash: Uh oh...

My entire interior compartment has the Dynamate Extreme Liner installed. Cuts back on noise completely.

What is the difference between Dynamat Xtreme and the Extreme Liner?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure, if they are both made from Dynamat, might check their webpage.
