Default anyone with power steering and aluminum pulleys?

I am running aluminum water pump and crank pulley's (both dual belt) and my power steering pump does not line up with the most forward groove. It is about a half a belts width to far forward, and there is really no way to move it rearward. I think if I were to run a single aluminum pulley and then the stock add-on pulley that it would line up but that is not what I want to do. I want the pump to line up with the pulleys I have (which I previously spaced out to match the pump pulley, but that was an ugly hack). What I am wondering is if an aftermarket pump like a KRC will solve my problem or what other folks did to get it all to line up.

Thanks
Chris

Have you mixed a long water pump with pulleys for a short or vice versa?

I'm running a KRC style aluminum p/s pump, along with Nascar billet pulleys from CV Products. CV Products offers all kind of billet spacers and shims for the water pump, as well as a wide assortment of pulleys, mounts, brackets, spacers, etc. Even with everything custom made, I was able to get all the pulleys aligned within 1/16" according to a straight edge and a level.

Been there done that. My problem started by changing the water pump to a short chrome Summit pump, and escalated from there. The power steering pump I ended up with is an older Saginaw style pump with the keyway and bolt that holds the pulley on.(newer pumps are pressed on)I also had to get a custom power steering pump bracket from Year One.It will adjust fore and aft to line up your pulleys.

I had that problem when I installed March billet aluminum pulleys except mine was the other way. I had to shim the alt, ac compressor and ps pump out by 1/4'.

It's that shimming out of all the other pulleys I am trying (and will) avoid. The pulley I am using on my steering pump is an LT1 cast iron pulley which sits way back on the pump and almost lines up with the first (forward) groove on both the crank and the water pump pulley, the alternator uses the rearward groove. I will look at the KRC stuff or maybe I will go to the junkyard and look at other pump mounts on other chevy's. I think the problem arises on our cars because the power steering pump is driven off of a crank pulley that was an additional bolt on pulley to either the stock single (for LT1) or double (SMOG and AC) pulley. That bolt on pulley has wider spacing of groove centers than a one piece multi groove pulley.

Thanks for the responses.
