Default rear driveshaft yoke disconnect

There are some bolts that hold the ujoint to the differential yoke, they are a strange star shaped bolt. Is there a special tool that i need to remove these? :smash:

You need a 12 point socket for that one. Soak the bolts in some penetrating lube, they may be rusted in place and the bolts are made from very soft material. You may want to replace them with new ones

With all of that Horsepower and a 4 speed you may even want to contact VanSteels and buy the HD cap and bolt conversion he has for sale to replace the factory Mickey Mouse straps and teeny little bolts.

I am putting the Heavy Duty set on my '80 with the TKO and the ZZ5. JIM

:iagree:

Get a GOOD quality socket. The bolt heads are easy to strip off.

Make sure you have the socket SQUARELY in place and you FIRMLY press the socket down on the head as you loosen it.

Van Steel has replacement 6 point bolts. They would also be able to give you a good assessment of what mods, if any, you need to make to the bolts/caps given you car's level of performance.
