Is yur shop bench messy?---top this
Pictures say a 1000 words. If cleanup is part of the job, then I rarely finish the job. Im glad im married or my house might look like this too. Ill clean it eventually and then it will be like a whole new world in there for me.

I thought for a second that you took a picture of my shop. Then I noticed your vice is bigger than mine.

Jvette73....
So..... where exactly is the shop bench? A good bulldozer might come in handy. Gotta admit your bench makes mine look like it should win the Good Housekeeping Award.

Can't say that ours are, but we don't apply, we have bench es. We also don't keep out tools on them, we have a room devoted to tools. But if I had control over it I would have a bench that looked like that.

I essentially eliminated my permanent work bench in favor of two Black and Decker 'Work Mates' that I install large sheets of plywood on for projects. I assemble the work area in the center of my garage and pile work and tools onto them over the course of a project. As I finish the project, parts go on the car, in the storage box or in the garbage, tools make their way back into the tool boxes and I put the benches away. I finish with a floor cleaning and trip to the curb with the trash can (or the auto parts store for recycling of fluids and replenishment of towels and cleaner). I've gotten to the point where I can finish the projects and get the garage looking like a garage.
Takes alot of discipline. Also keeps the wife happy that she doesn't have to wade through my projects for too long (they get completed) as she parks in her car in the garage too; the C5 is serving outside parking duty in favor of the C3, her Acura, my motorcycle and tools - 3 car garage.
It also helps that I spent about $100 in wood and several shelf kits to build a mass of shelving across the back of the garage for all of the stuff that previously sat on or around my workbenches. Had to get organized or lose my sanity.
