Default 73 Alarm problem

Can anyone advise me what it is exactly I may be overlooking with the factory alarm. It operated days ago, now it does not sound when I open the drivers door. Hood-OK, R/S door-OK. Everything that I can see and/or can get to seems connected. Courtesy lights all function, so I'm thinking it's not a fuse. Any clues, anyone?

I don't know if the components changed or were moved from 69 -> 73, but in the 69 there is a relay and a flasher located under the tray in the jack compartment. I replaced my flasher and relay with some from an autoparts store that where configured to fit the connectors. After I replaced them the alarm started working.
They were cheap and I didn't spend much time trouble shooting the system, I just replace the flasher and relay.

If the hood and passenger door work the alarm. I would say it is the drivers switch or grounding problem in the switch. Make sure the switch is popping out all the way when the door is opened, I had a passenger switch that was binding.

Try taking the driver door switch off and grounding the wire attached to it. If the alarm works then it's the switch, if it still does not work back track the wire to find where it is disconnected.

Terry,

If the door switch were bad, wouldn't that also negate the courtesy lamp?

I do not believe it is a two sided switch. But, I will look at it, thanks

I just fixed it. It was stuck, it's pretty cold here. Works fine now, and I was looking at the wrong switch. DUH! Thanks for the help. Now where did I put that beer? :hurray:
