255/50-17 have the same diameter as stock and thus fill the wheelwell. Some members are running 245/45-17 or 255/45-17 and like it. Up to you. If the car is at stock ride height you will probably like the 255/50-17 best.

There are only a few choices if you want to retain a full 27" diameter. I have the Nitto 450 Extremes (255/50 R17), and they have been great. With the 17" wheels, you'll actually have more clearance everywhere since the tires don't bulge out as much as the 15's do.

I have 255/45/17's but will step up to a larger side wall when I go to get new tires.
The 255 width is perfect for my 17 x 8.5 wheels.

I like the looks of the 255/45/17's on the front of my car, but would perfer the 255/50/17's in the rear over the 255/45/17's I have there. I will probably step up to that size at some point. If your car is stock height, I'd go 255/50/17 all the way around. Mines lowered and the 45's fit pretty well. :)
