Default hydraulic clutch conversion: hydraulic line

So. . . I'm converting my car over to an LS1/T56 and I'm currently working on the clutch linkage. I got the master cylinder taken care of for the most part (thanks norval) What is the best hydraulic clutch line to use? I just went down to the chevy dealer and they wanted $84.95 for the one off a '85 1ton truck. If there's a better/cheaper solution, that'd be great.

Try getting them from a junk yard. I am going to try the hyd clutch route too so I will follow this thread.

if i remember correctly the hose is 1/4 " - you should be able to go to most quality parts stores and they can build one right there - you could even change the angle of the fittings for a cleaner installation - i built the power steering hoses for a cutlass that i stuck a chevy motor in and their alot stonger than anything i could have bought off the shelf - dave

I hope I didn't do the wrong thing. I just went for a 1/4 inch steel brake line. I put a few nice circles in it around a 2 inch pipe and one end to the master cylinder and the other end to the slave cylinder. It has lasted 2 years. I know the motor shakes but with the circles in the line it flexes fine.
Try it. A normal 1/4 inch steel line. Very cheap.
Upon reading this it looks like I included the pipe. I just used the pipe to get a good looking couple of loops in the line for flex.
Honest it works fine being rigid. :)

Found a picture showing the line. It is above the header and looks to have about 4loops .
Hope you can make the picture out.

I am just using the master cylinder and line from the donor car. I take it that was not an option for you? Like said above, any autoparts store should have what you need.

I do have the master cylinder and line from the car. . . but i opted for the '85 truck varity because of the easier mounting. Unfortunately the newer line does not mount up to the old master cylinder. Looks like coming up with a new custom line is the way to go.

not yet, waiting on the motor mounts for a first test fit. . . I could post some pics of an empty engine bay, and an engine sitting on the ground. :smash:
