Any other coating rather than chrome?
Just wondering if there are other coatings (prefer do-it-yourself type) out there that would work instead of chrome under the hood. I like the look of chrome, but it is too expensive. We have some parts at work for display, and they have zinc plating on them. Would that work on engine parts, brackets, valve covers?
Any ideas?
I am going to talk to our suppliers (automotive parts) as well...

Look at the Caswell site. They have a number of plating kits.

Hope this helps.

Cermakrome from Tech Line coatings is a great do-it-yourself coating that has a chrome looking finish. It looks more aluminum/white than chrome but it's very durable and can be applied at home. Check out http://www.techlinecoatings.com At the moment Cermakrome is being reforulmated so they aren't shipping it but it should be available soon.

I have seen one fellow that powder coated all the exterior chrome/trim to make his yellow corvette look like a toy. You see a lot more powder coatings on motorcycle engines but there are a mutltitude of colors you could use. :seeya
