Trying to post pics of guage panel I made.
I'm giving this a try. I made a guage panel made of plastic sheeting and overlaid it with vinyl carbon fiber. As soon as I figure out how to post the pics, I will. It looks pretty good.

Also if you make a writeup (in msword or something with pics) I can post it on corvettefaq.com for posterity sake. :) Just email it to me.

Re: Trying to post pics of guage panel I made. (79VetteMike)
I'll post a step by step procedure for what I've done. The wiring process has been done before, so I'll leave that alone. All of my pics show up small and low quality, so I'm still working on that. I'd like to be able to provide an accurate sized template so that others can use it. The mounting plate will rest on top of the existing guage panel, but the original one will obviously have to be cut to let the Autometer guages slip in. I went on Ebay and purchased some vinyl that comes in a roll that looks like carbon fiber. It looks pretty cool and is pretty durable. I'm a perfectionist, so my best advice is that you get out what you put into it. I've seen some pretty cool guage panels on other Vettes and decided that this would be a cheap and easy alternative. I may go with aluminum panels later on. By the way, I have a CD player and decided that the CD player mounting plate would be best if if was seperate from the guages. As soon as I can get some good quality pics, I'll post them and directions for how I mounted the the guages.
