What brand did you go with and what was the cost ? I think that would be a great thing to add.

I did this on my car, except mine is controlled with an alarm. My little write up is at Corvette FAQ here:

Got it on my '71. Hooked into the EFI system so the engine won't start when locked. You'll love it.

and good questions they are!
but im afraid i dont know the answer to either of them!
let me explain...i asked a good friend and customer to hook me up...
he owns a car stereo and alarm place and im currently making some signs for him...
well...he came in this morning and handed me the box and said to just knock $50 off his bill...which means that is was probably around $75+ if i know him...
anyway...i opened it up and rumaged thru the stuff and even read the little books but i'll be darned if i can think of the name of it!
now keep in mind that it isnt an alarm...personaly, i wouldnt own one of them...the starter interupt is good enough for me...
but i wanted to be able to remotely lock and unlock my doors as well as put my windows down while aproaching the car on hot days :yesnod: :)
tomorrow i will check the name brand and tell yall...

Re: keyless entry goin' in this weekend!! who's got it?? (7t2vette)
My Alpine alarm system came w/ a number of output options. I have it setup for remote entry only, but it can also start the car, roll up/down windows, beep my pager if the alarm goes off, ignition disable, and a couple other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. It can also be setup w/ short range radar add-on to go off or make a warning beep if someone gets too close or puts their hand inside the car if the tops are off.
All of this is a huge pain to wire up however, it took me a number of hours just to get the keyless entry working. But still, it's pretty neat what you can do w/ it.

Re: keyless entry goin' in this weekend!! who's got it?? (SIGNGUY)
I have a the same PREDATOR 1001 Alarm and remote door lockand security system installed in my 80C3 and my 92 C4
For the C3: The car had originally door-mounted locking toggle switches and of course the actuators (one had seized). The security and door locking system locks out starter with a relay and remotely operates (locks or unlocks) BOTH doors at the same time. I further eliminated the manual door locks with their linkage and knee joint in each door that causes a lot of rattle. I have no manual inside door locks. I re-installed actuators with newly drilled bolt holes and lined them up in more or less vertical direction with DIRECT connection (new shorter "elephant wire") linkages to the (keyed) door locking mechanism. For a central door locking system, I eliminated both door-mounted toggle switches and combined BOTH door locks onto a single and relocated momentary toggle on the console for inside central door locking. I don't use it.
In addition, I installed LED lights (12V, Radioshack) in each door that light up momentarily on top of door when the actuators are energized together in locking position. I installed a 12V flashing LED (Radioshack) on the console and one on the dash to show locked and secured system position. Since the console was open anyway, I further installed a hidden garage opener under the console and powered it by un-switched 12V with momentary and hidden push-button within ashtray. Of course there are the hood and door contacts and motion sensor to set of the alarm horn. The momentary locking action also flashes my lights. I did not take pics (2 years ago) but I could E-mail pics of console etc. For my C4 the remote has a button for the rear latch.
I am working on a new hidden radar detector. The previous one “Uniden” (I think) with radar and K-band that was confiscated last summer after receiving a $175 ticket for having an illegal device (Ontario, Canada)
Good luck.

Re: keyless entry goin' in this weekend!! who's got it?? (Ghostrider)
if your car didn't have power locks before, PLEASE for the love of god post pics on how/where you mount the actuators!!!
I TRIED to install them and a keyless entry system last year, i went through 3 different kits and i couldn't get any to budge the locks one way or the other...
I want to try again this winter/spring, but would like more/better info/pics of other installs.

Re: keyless entry goin' in this weekend!! who's got it?? (Metal_Wulf)
Sorry Metal-Wulf, the car came with door monted (5-pin) toggle switch door locks and actuators. I edited further to make things clearer. Taking door apart to show pics of actuators in their new position will be a major task, that I want to avoid with car in storage. I don't know how to post pics, but I will be glad to E-mail pics of console etc.
